Romans 9:33 As it is written: "See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
It's amazing how someone who's been laboring for an organizations core mission and values suddenly paints a broad stroke and accusations after doing what he accuses the organization of doing; only after he gets canned for forgetting how the organization reaches the conclusions that necessitate such a mission and values. This man is dancing to the drum beat of those who demand Christianity change from what God has set forth.
Richard Cizic, who was recently asked to leave as V.P of the National Association of Evangelicals, was quoted as saying on the NPR broadcast, "Fresh Air", that he is in favor of birth control, if it avoids abortion. That, I would venture to say, is what ALL of us are in favor of, regardless of faith or social views. But as Christians, and those who are on God's side, must think a little higher. God said to be fruitful and multiply. Refer to the verses in the Bible such as God saying, "I knew you before you were in the womb." And a great deal of other events on how denegrated Hebrew society had evolved into a number of times, including being as reprobate and beastly as to actually offer their children to false gods as fire sacrifices, all of which God detested and ultimately steps in and corrects things much to the dismay of those who dare to defy God, and even those who haven't, possibly dare I say, from their silence and lack of defending the helpless? ( 2 Chronicals 28:1-7 1. Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father: 2. For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for Baalim. 3. Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel. 4. He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
5. Why, the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter. 6. For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. 7. And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king. ) Notice the verses above mentioned that God, was the God of the bad king in Ahaz.
Most of us have heard of the National Association of Evangelicals, and what had befallen those who were and are a part of this organization, by a man named Ted Haggard. As quoted in this article link, http://www.beliefnet.com/Faiths/Christianity/2006/11/Ted-Haggard-Frequently-Asked-Questions.aspx , "Before allegations of a three-year relationship with a male prostituee in Denver were made public in November 2006, Haggard was one of the most prominent evangelical leaders in America. He was the founder and pastor of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which had 14,000 members. Haggard rose to national prominence as New Life became one of the most powerful churches in America during the 1990s. In 2003, Haggard was named president of the National Association of Evangelicals, an umbrella group that calls itself the largest evangelical group in America." So, the founder was let go.
Now take this quote from Richard Cizik's new book, My Journey Toward the New Evangelicalism, ( http://religionandpolitics.org/2012/09/13/my-journey-toward-the-new-evangelicalism/ ) written by the man who by his own admission, claimed the things he broadcast on a national news interview program, and was soon asked to resign as vice-president for governmental relations at the National Association of Evangelicals in 2008: "Should the NAE be blamed? Arguably, it did what it had to do to preserve its reputation for conservative Christianity. Did it really do the right thing? What message did it send? Inescapably, the message is this: “We are controlled and intimidated by the Religious (that is, Political) Right and will do whatever it takes to avoid their criticism.” " ... We who are evangelicals have allowed ourselves to be co-opted by a pale substitute of the real thing." - Richard Cizic
You see what's happening here? Remember the 'drum-beats' I mentioned above? My point is this; how long will the world, and those who the church allow imposters to infiltrate the church, persist?
Remember 1 John 2:19,26,27 19.They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us. 26. I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. 27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.
Also, remember these are the end time situations John wrote about earlier in this same chapter 2, verse 18, before describing who is from us, but not of us: 18. Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.
In conclusion, I merely echo the words of John. he gives us the problem AND the solution. see above verses. We must be constantly in prayer and meditation in God's word. Because if we aren't, we become just like what is happening, with the events I just reminded us of. We forget, and succomb to the lies of the enemy, the anti-Christ spirit that seeks to cause us to be led astray, by the cunning arguments that constantly barrage us, the Church. My prayer is that the Church will be ever aware of the wiles of the enemy, as Jesus told His disciples.Because without being equipped with God's Word, and the awareness that comes with the mind of Christ, we are all toast.
