The Real Meaning of Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill"

It is absolutely astonishing what music can do For the heart.

All my life I've been fascinated by songs on the radio that surprisingly, mention God or Jesus. The first I can recollect are songs like the 1972, "Jesus is Just Alright" by The Doobie Brothers, and "American Pie" from by Don McLean in 1971, where he mentions, "...the tree men I admire the most, are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. ..." And of course there are the older lp's and 78's of Doris Day, Andy Williams, Andy Griffith and so many more, who all made holiday and Christmas albums and many top-chart songs, mostly somber, of God's comforting arms and guidance, and such. I think the most famous of the 20th century, actually, is "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" by Simon And Garfunkel from 1970. While I'm on a roll, let's give a shout-out to Bon Jovi's rendition of "Hallelujah," his release being 2017. But the origins of it are complicated and you can search wikipedia for that one.

But for decades the 1977 Peter Gabriel song, "Solsbury Hill, has given me comfort in deep, dark hours of rejection, loss of hope and feelings of worthlessness, though I never knew or researched why. Today, many call this sort of thing I mention that this song has actually relieved these cloudy feelings of, clinical depression. But I know that feelings of sorrow, loneliness and defeat are simply part of times we all go through and not giving up has been something I've become quite good at, being 55 years old now. But I just got around to listening to all the lyrics and not just SOME of the lyrics of this song. And I was completely amazed.

Say what you will about some trivial things others may feel is the meaning of Solsbury Hill, but the deeper meaning is taken from somewhere the common man just would not think of; rather someone who knows his Bible, would more likely have the keys to. This song is about a man who through God's voice, showed him a deep revelation, who came as an eagle to the writer, showed the story of the last days of Jesus before His crucifixion as being God taking Jesus back, Jesus not needing a replacement, which biblically, would have been Barabas, had the people chosen him, and Jesus showing His disciples "another me," being the Holy Spirit later taking Jesus's place, but not the day Barabas could have been, the day Jesus was condemned to death. But further, the part where the voice said, "I will show them what was meant by the smile on my face," the disciples who were not taught etiquette, and all who choose Jesus in the future, you and me, are the reason for the smiles on Jesus's face, though Jesus knowing God's plan of Jesus' being the sacrifice on the cross. Another amazing portion of the lyrics is where Jesus said those staying can keep His belongings. Biblically, Jesus said, in John 14:26,27 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid

And of course, those Peter Gabriel's song mentions as not being taught etiquette, represent the disciples, who were fishermen, tax collectors and other trades, but none of higher learning.

So following are a couple more verses that signify the Biblical accuracy to the lyrics in the song, "Solsbury Hill," followed by the actual lyrics,

  Praise Jesus everybodyyy!!! In this blog I will have youtube video links from today. Please share  my links so that other's may be blessed.
Ps Z is the founder of Bikers For Christ, and senior pastor of Rushing Wind Biker Church. Following is Ps Z (Fred Zariczny) Testimony and The Rushing Wind Biker Church Worship Team, who played at this event at Thriving Life Church monthly event feeding and serving the homeless in Vista, CA Sat Aug 10, 2019. Pastor Z shared the Word of God and his testimony and a great prayer and salvation session followed, which filled the front altar.

  Sorry for my lack of blogs, been almost 1 month and my podcasts/videos almost 2! Real quick, please keep my son, Michael Jr in prayers, He's 'missing in action' and this is the third time past 4 years he's went on the streets to live because he doesn't want to be a burden and he wants to 'make it' on his own. He is 34 years old and suffers from clinical depression. This is now the 3rd week, but he was actually seen by two different people within the first 4 days he's been missing. The 1st 2 times he was gone 5 days and 3 days. Prayers for ALL of our children and families, AMEN? Lots of traffic accidents, physical illnesses and financial hardships! I KNOW! Spiritual warfare often has it that attack comes before, during and after God's blessings and answers! After 4 years of no permanent employment, this month of August began my last of several temp jobs and this most recent one is the first turning to permanent and what a blessing, but there's no shame in saying the 'enemy of our souls' once again, tries to shut me down! Often I get to the point, and many readers and followers of my blogs, vids and podcasts too, where we tend to 'go dark' and sometimes even 'fade to black!' Well, hold on!  I'm speaking for myself no matter how hard and difficult it is to do so. SOMEBODY needs to HOLD ON!!!
  Let me tell you about a dream I had several months ago. I fell off a cliff and was holding onto a rope which got snagged on a root of a bush. A man and his horse came along and the man (of course) tied the rope to his horse. Well, the horses but was visible to me as I was looking UP in anticipation of being pulled up, as the horse DROPPED A LOAD down on my HEAD! I SAW IT COMING! But I had two choices. Either cover my head with one arm and FALL. Or just HOLD ON!!! Well, I held on. The moral of the story is to simply HOLD ON! 
  So please, post your prayers if you like. If you want to accept Jesus in your heart, you know what to do. Ask Jesus into your heart, (How can Jesus come into my heart, you ask? Here ya go: Revelation 3:20 from the King James Bible: Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.") READ THE BIBLE, go to a Bible-believing church and listen. Ask questions and pray for the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. You are a child of God as the Scriptures say. 
Tell me what city you live in and I will attempt to help you find a great body of believers.

After a year and couple months of attending, this is actually my first time actually hearing a message with his testimony as the subject. It definitely is a Bible school quality message and a blessing as Pastor Z incorporates God's Word and ways He drew Ps Z to repentance and salvation in a relatable manner, no matter what your walk in life may be.

2020 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE SNATCHING MY BOOK TITLE? JESUS ON WEEDS, SEEDS AND SALVATION

Who is this fraud? There's a guy claiming to be a Christian, who has a blog and is claiming to be possibly running for POTUS 2020, and he goes by the name, King David. He says he wants to bring all religions together. Sound familiar? (theteachingsofkingdavid.com) COEXIST is the latest resurgence on that one, but it's a time immemorial task to attempt such a futile task. But he stole my book title for his campaign slogan. His slogan is, "Make America Righteous Again." And my book, which was kindle ebook-published in January 1, 2016, "Making America Righteous-Again: From Bitterness To A Delight." What's worse is I can tell he read the Kindle sample sections, at least, and he didn't have the decency to at least ... Never mind. Pearls to the swine? And he has his mug on a Time Magazine front page cover, common social media photoshopping, of course. I'm sure most have seen such photos, example being one's own name on a photo of a Hollywood Walk of Fame photo? But beings he's mentioned US Presidency candidacy, I wonder if TIME Magazine would care he's using that social media front page cover gag?? But as I said, which is actually worse than him stumbling upon my book to feed his ego with, this guy is also using the universal religions of all roads lead to Heaven false doctrines which go insanely against just a few verses below which I'll share with you. Have I done what Jesus spoke of and cast my pearl to the swine? Or is this a good example of Jesus's WEEDS parable? More on that after the first set of verses which actually leads to how to easily discern a false prophet, which is what this guy thinks he is, but without the false part. I guess I should include his link for reference purposes, though I'd prefer not to. But plagiarism is what this guy is doing and without me including reference to my claims here, I'm just promoting hear-say, which I won't do. It's pretty obvious, however, this guy is some sort of keyboard warrior narcissist also, maybe in this thing as a real gimmick. But I've already decided not to search for answers to all my surmising. It's not worth the time and effort, except to know that Jesus is in the business of healing the sick, causing the lame to walk and causing the blind to see. like He's done with the rest of us who call ourselves Christian and who follow Jesus. But bear in mind, even the devils believe. (James 2:19 You believe that there is one God; you do well: the demons also believe, and tremble.)
